SPEAKER_02

Well we are ghetto. I embrace my ghetto.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, you know I can only give 10 seconds of that shit before it starts to blow me.

SPEAKER_02

Tap into your whiteness.

SPEAKER_05

Oh please. Episode of the Metal and Podcast. You have myself, Lamar, and Michael. Um, so you know, before we start, I gotta shout out a black owned business.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_05

Um, it's this place called Atlanta Fusion. It's actually around the corner. Um, it's like a barbecue place. Um, I tried their food. The food was good. Obviously, I had the salmon because it's like a lot of barbecue food, like uh ribs and stuff like that. Um the salmon was good. I got it with the jerk sauce and the house sauce, which is like all the seasonings and sauces together. It was really good. I think I paid, I want to say the more than $20. I had two nice pieces of salmon. Um, it came with bread. Came with like regular bread. It came with a piece of cornbread, which I didn't know because the menu didn't say that. So I ordered an extra cornbread. So whatever it was only 75 cents. Um the macaroni and cheese was really good. Love some macaroni. I had the smoke, it's called the smoked macaroni and cheese. It was good. I was mad because they didn't have any sweet potatoes, and I wanted to try that, but they had ran out, and I couldn't get nothing else because everything else had meat in it. The potato salad had bacon bits. Like, now that threw me off. Wait, it said contains bacon bits. I didn't ask the lady there, but when I seen on the menu, I just didn't bother. But the um string beans had turkey necks and potatoes, I think she said. The greens had meat in it, probably turkey neck, but I don't know. But y'all gotta try them out then all style, Georgia. I don't have the airdress on here. Sounds good. But the food was good. It's literally right up the street. Like when you go out my block, you just keep going straight. Um, and it's at the end of the block. Everything tastes fresh. Oh, I didn't like that they kept the skin on my salmon. I don't like the skin on the salmon. But other than that, like, perfection. That mac and cheese was rocking. Sounds like it'll be there again. Since they didn't have the sweet potatoes, I had to get another thing of macaroni and cheese, which was fine because once I ate that first piece of salmon, I was kind of full. So I wound up taking the other piece to work, and I had just made me like some broccoli or something the next day. But when I say it was good, the seasoning was good, the um sauce wasn't too sweet, it wasn't too spicy, it was jerk, but then I guess because of the house sauce, because you get to pick up the two sauces, um, it was good. I would probably get the sauce on the side next time so I can taste the seasonings separately instead of getting it made on my food. But it still was good nonetheless. And yes, I will be going back. It sounds good.

SPEAKER_02

Now I want something.

SPEAKER_05

I gotta go on a day where I don't have to work because I'm not getting up early to go there. I went on a Sunday, I went like six o'clock, we closed at eight, so I wasn't upset that they ran out of stuff. It's like it's a Sunday, it's a church, whatever. But definitely gonna check them out.

SPEAKER_02

As you should. But anywho, let's get into Do you want to tell them our our genius idea for this?

SPEAKER_05

No, so I'm gonna talk about you robed in your face. So originally we were supposed to talk about the BET Awards, which you can probably touch base on later on down the route. And what else? It was something else we were supposed to touch base on. BT bodies. Whatever. And I said, well, let's do a countdown, like top 10. Mike over here says, Oh, um, that's through artists. I said Janet Jackson at first. Anybody that knows me know I love me some Janet Jackson. Um he claims he don't know 10 Janet Jackson songs.

SPEAKER_02

Now that I'm sitting here thinking about it, I probably do. I do. Hmm. Because I just named five in my head just now.

SPEAKER_05

Off the top. Yeah. And if you go through your phone book, your phone book. I probably I probably have I probably have ten. I'm pretty sure, like, I can name ten easily, but that's me. So we ended up with Beyonce. Now, how did the roads lead here? I'll never know. Because we were at Bulldogs, by the way. I was so stressed out today trying to make this list. I did so many revisions and re-edits, and it was a lot. He put a lot of thought into the group project. No, because it's Beyonce, so you can't just go in there and say some random ass songs. I was looking for songs that like mean have like special meanings to me in special ways, which every song I listen to can take me to a different song. Like, I can listen to a Beyonce song and know what was going on or why I like it so much. I think that's why it was so hard. But I will say, my number two and number one, them two stayed the same. Like they never changed the spot. I never thought about moving them. Nothing. So before we get into the list, let's let's let's say this because I know where you're about to go. These are our favorite songs. Let's clarify that. We're not saying they're her best songs, we're not saying they're the best songs on the album. We are saying these are our favorite songs. Now, like I said, anybody that knows me knows B Day is my favorite Beyonce album. Is it her best album? Absolutely not, but it's my favorite. Just because it's the best doesn't mean it has to be your favorite. And songs can change.

SPEAKER_02

Like we can feel this way now, and then we probably do a recap.

SPEAKER_05

Weeks kind of no, I can't stress myself out like this again. I I had enough.

SPEAKER_02

But what I'm gonna ask you, uh, without giving us songs out right now, did you pick a song from every album?

SPEAKER_05

Uh, think about.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

And let's keep in mind we are only doing Beyonce studio albums. We're not doing soundtracks, we're not doing the Carter's album. We are doing the eight studio albums from Beyonce. Those are the songs that qualify for the top ten. Um had we threw the Lion King in there, it really would have stressed me out. And the and the Carters. It really would have stressed me out. Like that I was under enough stress and depression already. I didn't need that kind of.

SPEAKER_02

So, how many times did you uh revise? It doesn't matter.

SPEAKER_05

It doesn't matter. We're here. Just let's live in the moment. I think you need to tell yourself that. But listen, it was a struggle. I will say that. It was a struggle. But it was it was a good struggle. It was a good struggle.

SPEAKER_02

So are you ready to kick this off? Do you want to give your first song?

SPEAKER_05

Why I gotta start.

SPEAKER_02

You want me to start?

SPEAKER_05

Well, I'll start. Um so coming in at number 10 is from her first album, Dangerously in Love. And it is That's How You Like It featuring Jay-Z.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, that was a that was a good song.

SPEAKER_05

That was my shit. Like, um we played that a lot when we played cards. Like back at home when we played Tonk. That's me and my cousin, one of my cousin's favorite songs. That's who actually got me into that song, because that's my cousin's song. Like my cousin Ashley. Shout out to Ashley. Um we played that song religiously. Like, we have to play it when we play cards, like we have to play that song. If I don't play any other Beyoncé card song while we playing Tonk, it has to be that.

SPEAKER_02

That was a good song.

SPEAKER_05

What? I love it.

SPEAKER_02

Vocally, that was a that was that was my favorite song on that album.

SPEAKER_05

That's when Beyonce was an RB girly.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Now she's just has no genre attached to her.

SPEAKER_02

No, she can literally be in any category at the Grammys.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, do you know Um Lemonade is the only album that ever was nominated for rock pop RB and something else all in the same year at the Grammys? I did not know that. Yeah. Fun fact plug. There we go. Well. So what's your number 10?

SPEAKER_02

So I'm also gone with the first album. Um, so you know, I'm an old school person, so to speak. Um, and the song that I actually really play a lot from that album is her duet with Luther Vandross. Um, The Closer I Get to You. And I love that. I love the remake because, you know, even though they're from different eras of music, the duet doesn't feel forced, even though as a remake, it feels like she fit on the song. And they sounded good together. They sound really good together. And that's one thing I love about Beyonce, she fits.

SPEAKER_05

She strategically picks out her features. Yes. Like she's not just a girl you can run to for a feature because it's not gonna happen. Definitely not. It's not gonna happen. That was a good one. Let me see. Now my number nine. Oh my god. I don't know which list to go off. I'm still confused. Okay, I'm gonna go off this list. This is my hold on. I was so I was so stressed. All right, I think I like this one.

SPEAKER_02

No, don't even say it's number nine.

SPEAKER_05

Just say we got the good. So they know we're doing 10. 10 apiece, so it's gonna be 20 songs. It might be 20 different songs, it might not be. I doubt we have I if it'd be crazy if we have at least one of the same songs on our list. My number nine is Cozy from the Renaissance album with T.S. Madison. Um, that's my shit. Like when I listen to Renaissance, I go right to that song first, and then I go back to I'm That Girl. But something about Cozy just like makes me feel so happy and vibrant and lively, and then to see her performing at Renaissance and then for her to keep it on a cowboy cartour and see it again. Even the performances make you feel like so bubbly inside. Like, I don't know. I love that song. I'm dark brown, dark skinned beige, fluorescent beige, bitch. I'm black. Oh, I love it. I and I think what really made me like that song is Beyonce's the type of girl who don't be outside, but she pays attention to what's going on outside.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_05

Because that interview that T.S. Madison did was a little while ago. So for her to pick it up and put it in a song was crazy. And T.S. Madison didn't know that she didn't know what she was gonna be in the album for, she just knew, hey, this is what we're gonna do. We need your voice, boot doop do boot. They pulled the interview and boom. Because none of them heard the album until they came out. So, like people that was producing, they didn't know what was gonna be on there, didn't know what made the cut. So that was fine. And I love that for T.S. Madison.

SPEAKER_02

That's a fun song.

SPEAKER_05

It's very fun, yeah. Dex Dex song still get the club turned upside down.

SPEAKER_02

It does, it does.

SPEAKER_05

Who you got?

SPEAKER_02

So next on the list I have is Irreplaceable.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Um I think that was not saying that she didn't have iconic songs before that, but there was something about irreplaceable dropping at that time that felt it was like a it was like a shift. Um, it was written by Neo, um, and he shopped it around. Obviously, it has country notes in it. And for her to be an R ⁇ B person and take that song and and do what she did with it, that's why that's on my list.

SPEAKER_05

That's when she was in her Dina Jones era. Yes. Because remember, she recorded that. That was from B Day, who for those of you don't know. Um that's when she had just finished shooting Dream Girls and recorded that album in two weeks. Yes. My girl works. She recorded 22 songs in 10 weeks. My girl works. She was working. My girl works. And did videos. Yeah, because remember they wasn't, they didn't want to release some of the songs, and she was like, No, you gotta have a video for this, you gotta have a video for that. And something just popped in my head, but it's not on my list. I'm gonna leave it the way it is. Number eight, Rocket from the Beyonce album. Ooh, I wanna let me sit this and that's when Beyonce started feeling herself. Yes. Uh and listen, I was here for it. I was here for it. I was here for it. Um, I don't know, I had fun with that song. Like, I like it. It's very sensual, it's very sexy, yeah. And her vocals, like when she ooh, the ending of that? Yeah, I'm not gonna kill y'all ears right now. Because we I talked about or Morion enough on the last podcast, so I don't want to stress y'all out. But yeah, I loved it. Probably my favorite song. No, I'm gonna say it's probably my favorite song on that album. Something giving this a run for his money, but I don't Is it on my list? I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Um sticking with the B Day. Okay. Sticking with the theme of sexy. Okay. Um, my next song is Freaking Dress.

SPEAKER_05

Oh my god. Do you know that was on one of my lists and I took it off?

SPEAKER_02

Wow.

SPEAKER_05

It was on hold on, let me see which version of the list it was on. It's on this one. Yeah. Oh, it was on this one too, and I scratched it off.

SPEAKER_02

That song makes you feel sexy. And the video, I don't know what's going on. The video was fun. There's something about the song when it comes on, it just it hypes you up. She cut that video.

SPEAKER_05

I love Freakum Dress. I'm telling you, B Day was just a fun album. Yes. B Day was just like a fun album. I think that's why it's my favorite album. Like I said, vocally is not her best, lyrically is not her best, but I think that's her funnest album. Even down to like ring the alarm and stuff like that. Like the album was just fun.

SPEAKER_02

And the videos were fun.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, the album was just fun. Like, I feel like in that time she still had a point to prove, so it was like, let me show these bitches something.

SPEAKER_02

And it's that song is something you play when you go to the club with your friends.

SPEAKER_05

I'll put that bitch on right now and get it cracking. Go to the club. Okay, my number seven, I'm moving to the I am Sasha Fierce era. Is hello. I've never listened to that song. Oh my god. Hello is my I was actually torn between Hello and Smash Into You. But I wound up going with hello because I remember around that time I was in a relationship. And he actually got me liking this song. And I'm like, how? You said hello to me first. But then it's like, okay, whatever. I had you at hello. Or he had whatever. It doesn't matter. No, he approached this. Oh he approached me. I didn't approach that weirdo. That's what you call him? I called him that when I met him. But he was my little weirdo for a while.

SPEAKER_02

He was a weirdo before and a weirdo after.

SPEAKER_05

Still is. He a married weirdo now. Oh. Who knows? He might got some little weird kids around. I don't know. I don't know if him and his husband adopt. It's not my business. But that's still one of my favorite songs.

SPEAKER_02

That was a good, that was a good pick. That was a good pick. Um, I'm gonna move over to four.

SPEAKER_05

And what's so funny is my next song on that same album.

SPEAKER_02

Let's say if it's the same one. The next two songs are actually from four. Um this song I listened to a lot. Not recently, but a lot, um, which is start over. Oh no, no, no, it's not mine. Um I love the message behind that song. Um I'm not getting too deep into the reasoning behind it, but that song got me through a lot. Uh I just remember listening, like in the dark, listening to the song. Um, so it's a song, even even now, like I don't feel the lyrics now, but But you still feel the feeling from the song. The feeling from the song is what what made me put that on this list.

SPEAKER_05

She sang as on Renaissance, if I'm not mistaken. It was in the part of her first act. Because the first act on Renaissance, she did nothing but ballads. And I remember um a TikTok, like, why is she open up with ballads? Like, nobody wants to hear that. We want to get the party started. But I feel like it kind of set the tone. Yeah. Because she started in a slow tone, because she started with Dangerously in love, and she did one plus one. I think she did start over, if I'm not mistaken. Um, she did enough ballads, and it was like, damn, this bitch mic is on. And then she left and came back, and it was up. It was up. And I and you know what's crazy? I like that she started that way because then the show only went up from there. Like, I don't mind when you do a slow song in between, but I like also when I went to see Janet Jackson, she started on up tempo, and then when she did her slow song, she did them all in one piece and then moved back up. Like it wasn't yeah, boom, like it made sense. This was the first show where I went to where they started off with a ballad when they have a oh, I'm sorry, Bella, they have a catalog like Beyonce. It's not like if I go to a Tony Braxton show, okay, if she starts with a ballad, it won't be a shocker. Like she has more ballads than mid and upper tempo songs. Right. But for her to start with the slower songs and then come up, it was like, okay, bitch, we see you.

SPEAKER_02

But also, I like I feel like certain artists should be like, I don't want to go to a concert and hear her sing a slow song, but with Beyoncé's ballads, you you be locked in at the concert.

SPEAKER_05

But you know what? I've learned from being a Beyonce fan, if you can perform your ballads live and they sound just as good as in person, and you can perform your upbeats and they sound just as good, that makes you a good entertainer.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_05

Like I feel some people can sing a ballad very good on a record and then it doesn't sound great in person, or vice versa. Yeah. They can sing a up-tempo song really good, but when it's time to perform it, they're out of breath, they're exhausted, and it's just like, oh no, girl. Yeah. Like I'd rather we're not going to name any names because I can name a few.

SPEAKER_02

But there's a lot of there's a lot of artists who have the vocals who veer into a up-tempo song, but it doesn't translate on the stage.

SPEAKER_05

I would never expect to go see Adele and for her to give me a 10 count singing Water Under the Bridge. I would, I'm not expecting it. Like Mariah Carey, I love her, but I'm not expecting you to give me a 10 count from dancing from one of your upbeat songs. Like, is it's just not who you are. I'm not expecting it. But it sounds good.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Not saying they can't do up tempo, but don't think we expect you to get on the stage and press a 10 count with the up tempo.

SPEAKER_05

Please. Please don't piss me off. Okay, staying on the topic of four, which is crazy because I had two songs. I scratched one off and put the other one. But I think I want to revert back to that one. But I'm gonna just stick with what I got written down. My number six song is Dance For You. Dance for You is very fun. I wish the video was in color though for some reason. I mean it's cute and black and white, but I always wish the video was in color.

SPEAKER_02

Um you really felt the energy in that song. Mm-hmm. Yes.

SPEAKER_05

Let me pop it, pop it. That is one of my easily one of my favorite meantics.

SPEAKER_02

Hell, if you wasn't in the move that day and played that song, you would make you feel sexy.

SPEAKER_05

It makes you feel sexy, and then when you see the visuals of the dancing with the cheers and stuff, it's like, okay, B like, got you. Gotcha.

SPEAKER_02

That was a good pick.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I like that one. See, you got options. You got three different pages.

SPEAKER_05

You know, I did, but I'm sticking with this. I ain't I ain't flipped the page yet. I did not flip the page yet.

SPEAKER_02

All right. So going back to four. See, I'm an emotional person.

SPEAKER_05

Three songs in a row, because you had a song, I had a song, now you about to have a song.

SPEAKER_02

Um I'm an emotional person. Like, don't you? So I care is my next one. Um, again, she vocally can deny the vocals on that song, and the message behind it also anyone can relate to that. Um, even if even if you're not in a relationship, you can still relate to it. I just feel like Beyonce messages in her ballots resonate with everyone.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, when she hit that nasty mm-mm, oh my god. Then she oh my god, B. B is a beast. Yes.

SPEAKER_02

I can blast that in my car right now.

SPEAKER_05

B is a beast, and she is undeniable, and I don't understand why people always try to play on her top. I don't understand why she's not in the list, like why people try to say, well, she's not a vocalist, she can't do that. Promise you, whoever your favorite vocal is, she can keep up with him. Of course, she can keep up with she's easily one of the best vocals from our generation. Yes. Like prior to her, it was the Mariah's, the Whitney's, the Celines. Um, those type of girls have vocal vocals. But I feel like Beyonce is the full package. Dance, yeah. I feel like you take Janet Jackson and mix her with Mariah and Whitney and throw Tina up in there, you got Beyonce. That is a good that is a good take. You got Beyonce because Janet is easily one of the smoothest dancers we've seen, female wise. Yes. Easy.

SPEAKER_02

Easily and give her props now because she's at 60 still clearing a girl. I think Janet, not to take away from Beyonce, but Janet right now, I feel like we're Witnessing like a rejuvenation, yet more confidence, and she I love it.

SPEAKER_05

It it's like but then you take like the sass and the willingness from Tina, and you give that in there, and then you take the vocals of Whitney and Mariah and kind of blend them together and you throw that right there. You got Beyonce all right there. Because even if you separate all of them, right? Tina was that girl. Tina was that girl, but you're not gonna get a full-blood dance stage from her. Right. Janet was that girl, but she wasn't the greatest vocalist. But she'll entertain you. Right. My girl gonna put her on a motherfucking show.

SPEAKER_02

Freak freak.

SPEAKER_05

Vocally, she's not the greatest vocalist, and I mean she knows that. I think that she got with Jimmy and Jen, and they found what works for her voice. I feel like that's where Sierra was in the beginning of her career. I I still feel like she needed her and Jazzy Faye and Polo Ladone, just give us another album. Just because I like that you venture off, but I don't think nothing's touching those, though, that magic. I think that's her Jimmy Jim and Terry Lewis. Yeah. Get back with them. Missy can come in once in the blue moon, but go on over there. And then you got Whitney Mariah. They were the vocalists. They were the vocalists.

SPEAKER_02

My girl got all that. What you're describing is everybody, well, not now. Everybody up until a certain point in errors knew their lane in music. Absolutely. Now, it's like it's like a shit show. Absolutely. We we got vocalists that can't dance that think they need to dance.

SPEAKER_05

Mm-mm. Tamar Braxton. Um, so what's your next? I love my girl Tamar, but girl, when she was up there with them sneakers and that skirt on, bitch, why aren't you playing with me? And I love her damn. She put on a good show though. She does. She can lead the dancing out.

unknown

Well.

SPEAKER_05

Anywho, my next song. Damn, we in the top five already. Number five. I'm back to No, I didn't do nothing off this album yet. I did. I absolutely did. Oh, I got another song for now. Wait, are we on the five? We on number five. We on number five. Because my number six was Dance for You. Yours was I Care. Because remember, I said we did three songs from four back to back.

SPEAKER_02

Wait, that was my number five.

SPEAKER_05

No, it should have been your number six. Well, yeah, it is number five. So now we in the top five. Yeah. Yeah. Gotcha. Okay. So number five for me, back to Renaissance, is heated.

SPEAKER_02

Mmm. I I I I yeah, I expect that to be on the list.

SPEAKER_05

Or on mine? Yeah. Because you know that's my shit. Yeah. Tit tit on hardware floors. Tin tin tin' across the board. I ran that song through the dirt when it first came out.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

I used to play it in the bar. And mind you, my sister that works at the bar is not a Beyonce fan at all. If I go in there and put that song on, she, you know, they got the little remote behind the bar that can turn the speaker up and down. She turns that shit all the way up, honey. All the way up. You can't help. It's another feel-good. It's a feel-good, yeah. I'm I love it. It's pretty good being cocky. Yeah. But it's like, I'm that bitch. When she say Monday I'm overrated, Tuesday on my dick. And being it being a bit. Flip-flop flip-flopping ass bitch.

SPEAKER_02

Being in the club hearing that's a couple of things. Oh, when they put their fans out. Especially the guy that always got his fan. Yeah, you can see the energy that comes out when that song comes in.

SPEAKER_05

Mm-hmm. What you know what's so crazy? When I went to the Renaissance show, they were selling fans. I had a heck came on my own. Um, the lady next to me, she was an older lady. Older lady. Like, should have been at my job older lady. Um, very cute. She was very sweet, though. Um, and it was a white guy with her. And so, you know, everybody flicking the fans before because once the beat dropped, the little everybody knew what was coming on. We start flicking the fans, flicking the fans on beat and whatever. And the guy like, what's this about? I'm like, oh, it's a part of the song. So then when it got to the peak when it's like, wow, wop wop, and you flipping the fans. He like, oh, yeah, it's a part of the song, buddy. And then we kept it going because she performed this at Cowboy Carter, and people were still I oh my god, I love this lady so much. Clearly. I told you every song has a meaning behind it and how it made me feel.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. Um damn, now I don't even want to say this next song because it's taking a sharp left.

SPEAKER_05

Don't worry, I'm being that life with you.

SPEAKER_02

Um, I am Sasha Fierce. Back to that one. Um, one song. So I played this a lot during like if I'm going through something relationship-wise, um, Broken Hearted Girl. Oh, you bitch. So that's that I was thinking about that so bad. The vocally, again, that song, it does something to me. Like it really You fucking did. It really does something to me.

SPEAKER_05

I had it on my list and I scratched it off. Wow. Oh my god. Because then I start, I told you, I was listening to her songs, and then something else came when it was like, oh my god, no, this it was a mess today. Listening to those lyrics, it just it it grabs you. That might be one of her best songs, period. Yes. Easily one of her best slower tempo songs. Yes. It just puts you in a different space. Like, even if you're not going through nothing, it still puts you in a space.

SPEAKER_02

It makes you think. You know, you can listen to it and say, I'm listening to this song, and I don't want to ever feel like this going through a shit.

SPEAKER_05

And especially if you've been through something like that, um if you've been through something like that, it resonates even more. And it's just like, damn, like it makes it scary to date again when you think about the lyrics behind that song. Yes. But I don't know, that was a good one. I hate you. I hate you.

SPEAKER_02

I think a lot of people would be surprised that I I listened to Beyonce more than probably.

SPEAKER_05

Well, Freeze is we down to the last four songs apiece, and we have not. I told you, I think my next song. I don't think we're gonna have a lot. I'm shocked we didn't have one song that's on both lists yet.

SPEAKER_02

The next song after you will be one that you mentioned. Oh, it is. Okay. Before before you do your s no, go go to your next one, and then after you do it, get try to guess which one.

SPEAKER_05

Um this next song, um, we going to lemonade. Easily one of my favorite Beyonce songs of all time. I went to the formation tour and she performed this live, and I was just so in heaven.

SPEAKER_02

Can I, is it fast tempo? No, mid-tempo, slow. Is it is it a song where the crowd would put like their phones in the air?

SPEAKER_03

You could.

SPEAKER_05

I wouldn't call it a ballad, but I would say more mid-tempo.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

It's all night. All night. That was another song that made it on every list that I did. So my top two songs and All Night made it literally onto every list that I did. Like no matter which way I did it, the top two songs stayed in that the same two order, like number two is number two, number one is number one. All night shuffled around, but it made it literally onto every list. Because that's easily one of my favorite Beyonce songs. Easily one of my favorite Beyonce songs. I think at the time, uh I think me and I think me and Leo had just, did we just move into that apartment? I don't know, but I know we were together around that time, and I used to always play a song, and he was not a Beyonce fan, and he kind of started to like that song, and it was just like I loved it. Kiss Haven Grove Up and Ugh! I gotta put that on with you.

SPEAKER_02

I feel like we're gonna be playing our playlist after this. Great playlist. It's it's we're doing good.

SPEAKER_05

Now, mind you, let's let's keep in mind. We didn't say these were best songs. Let's let's throw that reminder back out there. We just said these are our favorite. Some of these some of these songs can be interchangeable, like I'll tell you which ones I could have swapped out, but they still made the list.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. Um so my my song is actually a song that you mentioned already, which is Rocket.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, yes.

SPEAKER_02

Um, I immediately put that on my list.

SPEAKER_05

That was like your go-to song?

SPEAKER_02

Yes. Also, I made a video to Rocket, a music video or something else? A solo video.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, oh yes, oh bitch, where my instructions are? Hold on. I got something for you, bitch. Hold on. You lucky I can't find it, motherfucker, cuz you lucky.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, here it goes right here. Here it goes right here. You said you made a solo video for that. Here we go.

SPEAKER_01

Mm-mm. Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Um tell us about this video. So fun fact about um not about Rocket, but the whole album. So I was still living in Jersey.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, that album changed the game.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. The album, so I was working at Tiffany's, um, and the album actually dropped while me, my mom, my grandmother was driving home from work.

SPEAKER_05

You know what's so funny? I was just about to ask you, do you remember where you were at when the album dropped? I'll never forget, I was on the trolley coming home. I don't know where I was coming from. This one I was still living in Philly, I was on Scepta, which is it's called the Trolley. Um, I was on the 10 Trolley, I was on 52nd in Lancaster. I used to have to get off the trolley on 55th Street, and um we lived in like the middle of the block. So once I got off the trolley, I just walked to the middle of the block. And the notification had come through, and I'm like, Beyonce, and it came out with a fucking album. So I had to go in the house, and what's so funny was I had a gift card. Somebody had just gave me a gift card the day before, whatever the case may be. I said, let me see what it was because you had to get you had to buy it. Yeah, streaming wasn't a thing yet. Well, it was a thing, but you couldn't stream that album. Yep. Streaming wasn't as big as it is now. Um, and I'll never forget, I sat in the dining room, put it on there, paid a little money, and I said what kind of videos too. And I didn't listen to it right away. Um, because I was doing something. But then when I eventually listened to it, I'm like, oh. But then the visuals made me like the songs even more. I see you. So speaking of visuals, what about this rocket? What was that visuals like? What was the meaning behind that? Yours, not hers. We know what hers is.

SPEAKER_02

No, because I'm trying to so I was a fast ass.

SPEAKER_05

Was I am was um you got rejuvenated and saved? Hallelujah.

SPEAKER_02

Okay um and I was in my room and a song came on, and and something came over me to make a video to this song. Something came over that spirit. Because it's just when you listen to the song, like we said earlier, it makes you feel I don't know what it makes you feel like, but it makes you feel like you about to get your shit cracked.

SPEAKER_05

For better lack of words. And that's what I was feeling like, I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

That's what I was feeling in the video. But that video is no longer it it it doesn't exist anymore.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, you got rid of it?

SPEAKER_02

Well yeah, it was from 20 when when I went out 2015.

SPEAKER_05

I want to say 13.

SPEAKER_02

13? So yeah, so that was on another phone that no longer exists.

SPEAKER_04

Would you remake it? I will make I would make a sex tape to it.

SPEAKER_05

To it, so it's only gonna be seven minutes long?

SPEAKER_02

Well that would be that would be on my playlist.

SPEAKER_05

Oh okay. I was about to say, because it's seven minutes, that's not a sex tape. That's a quickie. Yeah, that's like that's like a that's a one-night stand. It's like an EP. Shit, that ain't even an EP. You got that right. Oh, so we enter our top three. We're into the top three. Okay, so number three for me, and this is another one that was kind of interchangeable in and out my list, but I had to put it back on there. We're going back to early Beyonce, we're going back to the B-Day era. Um, easily my favorite song on that album. Easily my favorite song on the B Day album. Like without a shot of a doubt, it is my favorite song. Green light. Ooh. Green light is my shit.

SPEAKER_02

So can I tell you? Um today, actually, I was looking through the playlist and I was like, why do I have three B-Day songs on here? Because I was trying to got three songs from B Day on your phone? Well, I was no, the playlist. So I was trying to balance out the top 10 and I took Greenlight out. Oh, you're crazy. But let me tell you, Greenlight is probably my favorite video, one of my favorite videos from the B-Day.

SPEAKER_05

Did you remember the making when she fell down the steps? Did you watch it?

SPEAKER_02

I love her dark hair. She looked good with dark hair. Yes. I want her to go back to dark hair.

SPEAKER_05

She took good with dark hair. Um, I love maybe with the rock era, she might do some darker visuals.

SPEAKER_02

What I love about that video is that it's simple, but the fashions is dramatic. Like the high heels. Yeah. The heels on the tiptoe.

SPEAKER_05

It's simple but flashy at the same time. Tip tip on the tiptoe. It's like you said, the fashions is there. Like the latex dresses is crazy. The hair who her makeup, her hair and makeup in that video in general, her B-Day era was just like different. Like I love that she stuck with what she was going with, like the early 80s with the hair do's and the makeup and the outfits, even when she did her tour and like the gowns and stuff like that. Like, I love that era, Beyonce. That's probably my that's when she was outside. With that video, B Day. She used to actually come outside and talk to us.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, she did. Then she said, fuck y'all. Um they don't know how to act. But with that video, it was a simple backdrop. And the the hair, the outfits were the drama for the video.

SPEAKER_05

And you know what's crazy? I think the white backdrop made everything pop. Like it made everything stand out even more because it wasn't a lot going on to where people know Beyonce is a video girly. So for her to just give that plain white background with that just everything that goes with it, which makes me think about it's not on my list, and I hope it's not on yours. Like, I feel like the same thing about the single ladies video is just so plain, it's so simple, but it's iconic at the same time.

SPEAKER_02

That's not on my list. I don't even think actually, I never thought about putting single ladies.

SPEAKER_05

No shade, it never crossed my mind either. It never crossed my mind because I mean, I like I love the song, but it never crossed my mind to be in my top 10.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, because I don't Which is so funny because it's one of her number one singles, but yeah, but I don't, I don't, I don't get in the car and be like, let me play single ladies.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, if it comes on, I'll listen to it. Yeah, but so what's your number three? Here we go.

SPEAKER_02

So this is our second song. We got another.

SPEAKER_05

And I didn't even think we was gonna get one. Now we in there for this one. It's from Lemonade. All night? Yep. That's the only thing I got from Lemonade on here, so um.

SPEAKER_02

So I'm gonna bring up Sierra. Um when I listened to Sierra Beauty Marks, Trust Myself Um stood out to me because I always pictured me driving down the highway with the windows down. You can play Trust Myself and just just with the wind and all that stuff. Um not saying that all night and trust myself have the same message, but I get your gist. All night I can go down.

SPEAKER_05

It just makes you feel so happy.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I can just go down.

SPEAKER_05

It just makes you feel so happy and so bubbly and so and I love my analogy right there.

SPEAKER_02

I am degree, y'all. I can give those.

SPEAKER_05

Here we go. Number two. Now, like I said, number two and number one never change spots. I'm gonna show you my list or the list that I continue to make. Number two and number one have never changed. Never change. And I've I will die on the island that these might be my favorite two songs, but these are her some of her best songs. And I will die on a mountain that these two are in her top ten is best songs.

SPEAKER_02

So for your number two, what what album is it from?

SPEAKER_05

Renaissance. Okay. Renaissance. What you trying to think of what it is? How many tempo? About seven minutes long.

SPEAKER_02

Um you already mentioned cozy. You already mentioned heated. I definitely know it's not break my soul. No, I know it's not. Absolutely not. Um okay, what is it?

SPEAKER_05

Virgo's Groove.

SPEAKER_02

That is a good one.

SPEAKER_05

Virgo's Groove. I can see that.

SPEAKER_02

I can see that being on your list.

SPEAKER_05

And not just because I'm a Virgo as well. But but that's another another feel-good song. It is cuddled up, and you gotta listen to the words to know where my girl is going with this.

SPEAKER_02

But but that whole album was also feel good, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

That whole album, but something about that is just I don't know, like the ad-libs and the runs and stuff she's doing towards the middle, and like the vocal acrobatics in the song. That's why I said easily. This is like easily in her top 10 as best records. Now I will argue it's my damn that this is in her top 10 for best records, along with being in mine for my favorite.

SPEAKER_02

Is it because it got Virgo in it?

SPEAKER_05

Absolutely not. I just think vocally is one of her best songs.

SPEAKER_02

That's that's a good song to pick.

SPEAKER_05

Vocally, like, I love it. I like the the the funky beat too. I like the beat because the beat was so different. Yes, like the beat and the way she just rolled on that beat.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my god. To kind of pivot, uh, because you mentioned um funky, not in a bad way.

SPEAKER_05

Not funky dine either.

SPEAKER_02

Um, one song that I used to listen to a lot was Sugar Mama. And I love her voice on that.

SPEAKER_05

Crazy fact, I hated Sugar Mama when it first came out. It's so addictive. You know what made me like Sugar Mama? The visual. And watching and making of it. I couldn't when Sugar Mama first came out, that was like a skip when it first came out. For me, it was a skip, but then it it grew on me. It grew on me. Now that's one of my like girl, can you at least perform this at least one time on a fucking tour? Like, girl.

SPEAKER_02

So what's your number two? Before I get into my number two, I want you to think about. So we're gonna do a bonus song.

SPEAKER_05

You would tell me this right now. It can be unreleased. No, you will tell me this right now.

SPEAKER_02

It can be a feature.

SPEAKER_05

No, I got one in my mind because I wanted it on my list, but I also said we only do on her studio albums. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So my number two, or the next on my list is Pure Honey. And I put this on my list. I don't know from Renaissance, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

That's so crazy. Why are our number two both on the same album?

SPEAKER_02

This song I played a lot, and it's no rhyme or reason, it's just like the beat, like the beat. I don't know if it's the one.

SPEAKER_05

I think that's their song.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. And it's like, I used to play it a lot, and I'm like, why the fuck I'm and I when I went back and

SPEAKER_05

Feeling gay.

SPEAKER_02

It makes you feel very gay.

SPEAKER_05

Very.

SPEAKER_02

I'm straight, by the way, guys.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

unknown

I like vagina.

SPEAKER_05

All right. You meant to put allegedly in front of that.

SPEAKER_02

No alleged. Okay. Every day and then in Monday. Okay. Where is it at, bitch? Oh, why the birds? What's the birds?

SPEAKER_05

I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

So you're going to do your bonus track first, or are we going to do your number one first?

SPEAKER_02

Well, you gotta say your number one.

SPEAKER_05

I'm just saying, are we going to do number one first or the bonus track? We're going to do the number one and then we can go into No, I think we should do honorable matrions first, bonus track, whatever you want to call it.

SPEAKER_02

So you want to do Honorable Honorable Mitch?

SPEAKER_05

Bonus track, whatever you want to call it.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

My bonus track would be from The Lion King. And it literally was on my list. Actually, I can give you two bonus track because it's another song that I really, really wanted to put on here. Um the first song would be Bigger from The Lion King. Um, I don't know, that song just always made me feel like whatever you want, just go for it and do it. Like it always made me think pop more positive about myself. Like, you know, I'm a very confident person. But something about bigger just always made me feel I don't know, like special in a way. Like it always made me feel like there's always a glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel. Um and my second bonus track would be from the Cadillac Record soundtrack.

SPEAKER_02

Which one? Um Once in a Lifetime. Oh, because I was gonna say um her Edda James remake.

SPEAKER_05

Once in a Lifetime, I'll never forget. I first heard that song. Um, I used to be friends with this girl named Rashima. Like, we're still cool on social media and stuff like that, but like we used to be like real, real close, like real close. We all went to nursing school together, and I don't know where the hell we were going, but every time we got in across, she always played this song. And then it just grew me, and it's like to this day, like easily one of my favorite songs.

SPEAKER_02

Those are two good choices.

SPEAKER_05

And I would have put both of them on my top 10, but we had already agreed to just stick with her studio album songs.

SPEAKER_02

Alright, so before we get into our last song, my two. One is Rock. You are my rock? Yep, which is unreleased. Um love that song so much.

SPEAKER_05

Hate have that I wrote a book about where we sing.

SPEAKER_02

I hate that I gotta go on YouTube to listen to it. Um, but the second one is, and I feel like they need to go record this song. Brandy and Beyonce solo.

SPEAKER_05

It'll never happen.

SPEAKER_02

It would never happen, but I play that song a lot too.

SPEAKER_05

That's my shit though. It sounds so good. It do. It does it sounds amazing. I wish they really would have made it. They voice it. I feel like Brains is another one who voice can just like blend and take shape to whoever she's on a track when it didn't, and it didn't sound like a messed up track. It really sounded like a song that they recorded and just never released.

SPEAKER_02

Yep. It's crazy that there's so many different versions of that song on YouTube. Version of people that mash the song together, you can tell the difference between. I gotta find the one that I love the best.

SPEAKER_05

I like the one where it's just the magazine covers floating back and forth when they both got the five magazines.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, that's my favorite version. It's one mashup that uh not not shading brandy, but I feel like pitch was a little too high. Yeah, yeah. But they sound good together.

SPEAKER_05

I love it. I mean, if I if Wishes was fishes, the world would be an ocean.

SPEAKER_02

Maybe that song could come out before um put in a love song with Alicia Keys.

SPEAKER_05

Well, no, you know, actually have a video for it. Yeah, that didn't get released. They have a video for it, but Matthew knows did an interview and said whatever part of the they was overseas, whatever part they were in, they didn't get permission from the gang to film a wig. Yeah, so they had to shut filming down and let them Beyonce had on her good wig and that put it on like it also might have been a blessing that Alicia Keys didn't release that video.

SPEAKER_02

Why?

SPEAKER_05

We we really want to get into this. It would have been a blessing for Alicia that it wasn't released, not for Beyonce. Because the Beyonce would have stole the show in that video. Beyonce definitely would have ate that video up. It's an up-tempo dancing type song. Alicia Key's not known for that. And you know, Beyonce can't contain herself, so she'd have been just being Beyonce, not trying to sell the shine, just being her, playing her part when her song come on, her verses come on. Then God forbid y'all didn't have a little one, two, one, two razzle dazzles you had to give us. Uh-uh, baby.

SPEAKER_02

So, did you see the performance that they had at the Madison Square Girl? I've seen it. Oh, okay. We see how that went. Oh, it didn't go nowhere. For Alicia.

SPEAKER_05

My girls still on top. Hit that button. My girls still. My girls still on top. Now we're talking about our favorite song. You should already know this one about you should know this my favorite Beyonce song. It is from Cowboy Carter. My last one is from Cowboy Carter. Oh, the suspense is killing me. Yours, is it a ballot? Up tempo, mid-tempo. Mine's is a ballad. Mine's is RB. Mine is a ballad. Ooh. What's so funny? Speaking of Cowboy Carter, this is actually the only song in my list from Cowboy Carter. I'm gonna tell you what song I wanted to take off and put on. But we'll get back to that.

SPEAKER_02

My before you go, Cowboy Carter is the least album that I've played out of Beyonce.

SPEAKER_05

Why?

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. Because I listen to country. But I I think it's modern country. Like I wouldn't say it's like full-blown country.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Um, I think I just need to like I told my friend Mariah, um, because she didn't listen to that cowboy, she didn't listen to the cowboy carter, she didn't go to the tour either. Um, she did go to Renaissance, and I was like, well, if you listen to it, it's not country which you would expect country. Yeah, I think it was a modern twist of country, and then you got songs like I was about to say my favorite song. Um you have some stuff when there's just flat out not country, no, spaghetti is not country. Like, I'm we're gonna get there. But my favorite song is on that album, it's definitely not country at all. Um, I prefer the album version over the digital version, like the actual CD version over the version that's on streaming sources. I prefer the live version.

SPEAKER_02

Okay is so hold on. Since since we both have a cowboy carter song at the end, I didn't go to the concert, but tell tell them your experience of you going to the tour for you want me to tell them about the concert or the experience as the whole?

SPEAKER_05

Because it's speak your truth. I will never go to another show in DC. The experience in DC was utterly horrible. Um, when I was trying to pay for parking, it kept trying to reroute me to buy a ticket for the show, which clearly I don't need if I'm already here. Um It was trying to charge $100, which was fine. It's like whatever. Like it's a stadium. It's the I'm literally buying a ticket as I'm fucking pulling up to the show. Um and a guy pulls up, he like, did you buy a ticket? I'm like, no, I don't like, and I literally pulled my phone out and show him every time I go to buy parking, it reroutes me to Ticketmaster to buy a ticket, but I already have a ticket. So he was like, Well, just drive up, go past those two young guys, because they dickheads, like just go up to the other guys. I guess the other guy, he like, um, you got a ticket? I'm like, yes. I went to go pull my phone out and act like I was getting something. He said, just go because the line's too long. So I wound up not paying for parking. But even still, that whole transition was a mess. We get there, the bus was supposed to open at six, but by the time I got there, like most of the stuff was either sold out or the lines were too long. I went on the fourth of July last year. It was hot as fuck outside. Oh, so um one year anniversary. Yeah, I went on four for July last year to the DC show. Um get in the venue. Now, mind you, let me rebound it back. They emailed us two days before the show and told us that the stadium is a contactless venue, which means they only take cards. Fine. I don't carry cash, that makes it better for me. Get there to the gate, show my ticket. Oh, you gotta go over here. I go down there and no, your entrance down there. Get me the fuck in this building. It's hot. I want to stand inside. Like, what is going on? After 20 minutes of being shuffled all around the fucking outside, I finally get into the building. Okay. I get in the building, I just go to see where my seat is at. I don't drink when I go to concerts because I don't like to get up to go to the bathroom. I'll probably have like a shot or something before I go to the show, but I'm not about to overly indulge it and have to keep getting up, missing stuff. Okay, whatever. I see where my seat was. I said, okay, let me just put something in my stomach because I had eaten all day and I'm like, I at least need to hydrate myself a little bit because it's hot outside. I go there, the fucking ketchup shit don't work. I probably had like some fries or something, that's all I can have. Um, so I just had some fries in the juice, $22, but don't even get me started on that. The ketchup thing didn't hit the work, so I had to walk all the way down to the oven, get the ketchup thing. Bitch, why as I'm getting my shirt, the motherfucking machine go down. So now the stuff is you have to have cash. But there was a God because as the machine shut down, the motherfucker still charge my card. So I showed the lady because she tried to say, oh, the machine shut down, we can't show proof. I have chase. So whenever I use my phone, it sends, it pops right up like it'll drop down in an um alert, like however much you spent. I turned my phone right around. Yes, it did, hon. Give me my shirt. That's bitch, that's paid for. So the minute she had to, I don't give a fuck who you get. Y'all machine shut down, but my card got charged. Run me my fucking shirt. You're not about to wait until your systems come back up, and then the shirt that I want is sold out. Because the show is about to start. I literally waited. So the show was supposed to start at 8:15, but I've been to several Beyonce shows. I know that's not happening. I know my girl wasn't coming out today or 9 o'clock. If the sun's still up, she ain't coming out. But if you go to her show, it makes sense because of all the lightings and effects that she has. It wouldn't, you wouldn't see none of it in the sun. So I go about 8:30, whatever the case may be. Literally, as I'm going back to my seat, the screens start going on because now she's about to come out. Mind you, her last two shows, she didn't have an opening act. Um, but the cowboy Carter show was just so much fun. I like Renaissance better. I think Renaissance was the better tour. But I also feel like if you didn't like the album, seeing her perform these songs live would make you like them even more. Like it's certain songs that I liked on the album, but seeing it live was like, oh, you you nasty bitch. So I've only segment because my number one song, Two Hands to Heaven, it was already my favorite song on that album. But I wish the version that she performs and the version that she has on her physical CD album was the version on the streaming albums because the vocals in that run that she does is crazy, but it's not on the streaming apps, it's only on the physical album and the she did it live. Um Two Hands to Heaven actually has been my number one play song on Apple for the last two years straight.

unknown

Wow.

SPEAKER_05

For the last two years straight, that has been my number one played song. So since that album dropped, if it makes it again this year, it'll be three years straight that that song has been my number one play song.

SPEAKER_02

Wow. Wow.

SPEAKER_05

You know how you do like your year end.

SPEAKER_02

I was just about to say now, now that I'm thinking about something, which is kind of left again.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, because the album came out in 2024, so it was number one then, it was number one in 25. If we make it to December and we do another year's end, it'll be three years. But when I tell you, that song just makes me want to be so submissive and so lovey and just it makes me feel fluffy and warm-hearted. I don't know, like I can listen to that song all day, every day. It's one of those songs when it gets to the end, I'm starting it over. I gotta, in the words of my neighbor Silver, I gotta run it back. I gotta run it back. Easily, I feel like that's one of her best songs. Easily one of her best songs. That could be on her top three vocally, lyrically best.

SPEAKER_04

Like, I don't know.

SPEAKER_05

I could talk about that song all day. So see what's crazy is I actually cried when she performed that song. I didn't like boo-hoo ugly cry, but it was like I had a little tear sat down my eyes. Lord Jesus. That's how much I love that song. Like, I love that song.

SPEAKER_02

So before I before I say mine, I need you to get your phone and pull up your Apple playlist. What is it? I don't really have no playlist on my Apple replay.

SPEAKER_05

Apple replay for 2026.

SPEAKER_02

I know there's not a lot of cowboy carter in there for this year, so Google, yeah, just Google um Apple replay for 2026 and then you don't gotta do all it.

SPEAKER_05

You know you go right into the thing, it's right in your thing.

SPEAKER_02

Um, so you're ready for mine.

SPEAKER_05

And when I get to my playlist, what am I doing?

SPEAKER_02

It should tell you like your top artists, your top songs, your top albums.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, it's not doing it for the year yet. I gotta go.

SPEAKER_02

It's just for June.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, for June? Yeah. Um for June, it was actually Beyonce.

SPEAKER_02

Wow.

SPEAKER_05

537 minutes.

SPEAKER_02

I'll I'll say my top out, my top artist.

SPEAKER_05

Um, my number one is Oh, but before you say that, you want to know what my fourth most listened to song in June was? What? Two hands to heaven.

SPEAKER_04

That's crazy that this song still.

SPEAKER_02

My top five songs don't have any Beyonce song.

SPEAKER_05

All right, go ahead. What you was about to say now? What's your favorite one?

SPEAKER_02

My first, my my number one or my last one, is Two Hands to Heaven.

SPEAKER_05

Are you serious?

SPEAKER_02

Yep. Um, that's the last song on the list.

SPEAKER_05

Are you that is actually crazy? That is actually crazy. Who would have thought that we would have had the same favorite Beyonce song? Um, but you want to know what's funny? Listen to this. In January, Two Hands to Heaven was number one. Beyonce was my number one artist. In February, Two Hands to Heaven was number five. March, it was number 11. I really didn't listen to it a lot in March. April, it was number four again. Maybe it was number eight. And then June, it was number four again. So that song has literally been in my top ten literally since it came out, with the exception of March. Beyonce is not I'm telling you, I listened to that song so much, it's not even funny. So my top five songs for June were even in March when I when it was number 11, the number 10 song only listened to it three more times than I did that one. So you get the feeling when I was expressing how I feel about that song. Like Two Hands of Heaven is just I don't know how to explain it. Like, it's just so her vocals just feel so pure and so angelic to say the least.

SPEAKER_02

And oof, do you know? I'm looking at this and now so I listen to music 3191 minutes in May, and Tevin Campbell is my number one artist that I listened to in May.

SPEAKER_05

Why? Probably But before we get there, why was Two Hands of Heaven your number one song?

SPEAKER_02

So I I lightly listened to the song when the album came out, but when she performed it at the Netflix when she performed the halftime on the Netflix football game. She ain't performed that on there. She performed it somewhere.

SPEAKER_05

You probably seen it on YouTube. Um I enjoyed it live. Yeah, so you had to see it on YouTube because she left it off the list, and I was mad that she left it off.

SPEAKER_02

And and I was looking, I was like listening, and I was like, let me go back and listen to the song on the album.

SPEAKER_05

Seeing her perform it live. Oh my god. Like it's one thing to see it on YouTube, but like being in the arena while she's performing that song, and everybody got their lights on, they flashlights on their phones. You look, and then actually, you got the little bracelets, the Beyonce Red, white, and blue bracelets. So they just start lighting up. So you'll go around the stadium, maybe like one stadium is this color, and it starts to fade as it comes around the stadium. So when she performed that song and the bracelets was doing all that, it just made the song even more pure and even more essential. And they remember they had the little TikTok channel as my hip of these hips when they was doing a little dance and stuff like that. Like and her voice, yes, but it proves to me, it shows that this girl has been in the game for 30 years and still making music that moves you, that's still selling, that doesn't sound. I feel like Beyonce is one of my favorite artists because I can never listen to two Beyonce albums and get the same feeling. No, first of all, you're not even going to be in the same lane. Um, I feel like had Beyonce listened to the internet, she would have phased out a long time ago. She'd have been one of them RB girlies that got stuck in a box and her career would have been, she wouldn't have Beyonce.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, let's talk about it. Let's talk about Deja Vu. When that song came out. That's Jerome's shit. People was like, why the fuck is she releasing this song? But I loved it.

SPEAKER_05

The drama. When she performed it on the BET Awards and was sliding across the stage like a snake.

SPEAKER_02

And then she was sitting there twirling like Kenya Moore in a video.

SPEAKER_05

Even when you listen to her singles, like her first singles, you know, the um when they released their first singles, none of them sound alike. Crazy in Love sounds different from Deja Vu. Deja Vu sounds different from um Single Ladies and If I Were a Boy. They both sound all of them sound different from Run the World. We technically never got a oh well, Drunk in Love was the first single from Beyonce. Lemonade, we really never got a first single because remember, everything just dropped at once. And a lot of different shit got pushed to the radio, but we never really got a clear-cut single for Lemony. But then you have what? Break My Soul. That doesn't sound like any of her first singles. Texas Hold'em damn sure doesn't sound like anything. Like none of her singles sound like anything. Where I feel like Beyoncé sabotage herself is where I feel like she sabotages herself and it pisses me all the way off. Some of her singles you have to question. Like that girl, why? Why? Which single? I remember back when Renaissance came out, and Church Girl was supposed to be a single, and we went on that internet girl and we bullied that girl to make Cuffet a single. And Cuffit eventually went to number six on the charts. I don't understand why she didn't push for Bodyguard to be a single, because Bodyguard was another that's another song I was gonna put on my list from the Cowboy Carter album. That was kind of interchangeable with some of the songs. Bodyguard definitely could have been a number top 10 single for her.

SPEAKER_02

What do you think about Grown Woman?

SPEAKER_05

I was never a single, and nothing to think about it. It was cute for what it was cute for the moment.

SPEAKER_02

I didn't like that video.

SPEAKER_05

It was cute for the moment. Like it was nothing to get me up and moving about. But but I also feel like we get you, Beyonce, and we get you can sell offer your name. We need you to get into that phase to like show these girls that you can really pull this shit. Because let's be honest, had she promoted Renaissance, Cuffy could have easily went number one. Easily could have went number one again. Because remember, they was always saying, Oh, she'll never get another another number one by herself. Because her last number one by herself, if I'm not mistaken, was single ladies. Yeah, that was her last solo number one, if I'm not mistaken. Yeah, because she didn't get a number one off of Beyonce. Because Drunken Love went top ten. Lemonade didn't get a number one. Formation went top ten. Yeah. Renaissance, Break My Soul went number one. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

That's crazy.

SPEAKER_05

Because she was getting number ones as featured artists.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

And the girls was Carol Howe, and then when Break My Soul went number one, bitch, think again. Then turn it back around. Texas Hold'em, number one. Think again. Which again, she sabotaged herself because has she released it on Friday, like the normal track record is, she dropped it on a Sunday, which was the Super Bowl Sunday, which gave the other songs a two-day head start, but she still debuted at number two. Which, if she would have dropped that Friday, that would have been her first song to debut at number one. But I think this next song will debut at number one. I feel it in my spirit.

SPEAKER_02

What what direction? Oh well.

SPEAKER_05

It's allegedly supposed to be rock.

unknown

Rock.

SPEAKER_05

Allegedly.

SPEAKER_02

She's gonna get on her teen and toner.

SPEAKER_05

But I feel like I just feel like some of her songs is like, girl, you should have pushed this as a single. Like, I feel like her last great single was XO.

SPEAKER_04

Well, I didn't even think about XO. Oh, actually, I did.

SPEAKER_02

That was gonna be on my list, but I took that off.

SPEAKER_05

That was like one of her last great singles. Like, damn, bitch, you picked the right song off of here.

SPEAKER_02

And that it gave you that nostalgia, like you know, amusement part.

SPEAKER_05

That's why I think it's funny when people be like, oh, Beyonce gonna do RB. Bitch, go listen to Cowboy Carter. She got River Dance, Two Hands to Heaven, Tyrant. It's RB music on there. Tyrant was literally nominated for a fucking RB Grammy. Shut the fuck up. Just shut up. You just want something to say.

SPEAKER_02

And boys and girls, what did that teach you?

SPEAKER_05

You don't teach me shit because I listen. I love my girl though. I it was this was this was tough. But look at my list. Now that it's over, look at number. This is the list that I chose right here, right? Um, yes. You see number one and two? Look at the other list. You see one and two? They're the same. Never change. Those are easily my top two favorite Beyonce songs. Interchangeable. Some other songs I had on my list. I remember I did say I had Smash and To You on there. I did have Deja Vu on there. I forgot I had it on there. Would you have put I had Poison on my list. Uh Sweet Dreams. No. Didn't even cross my mind. I mean, I like the song, but it didn't cross my mind to put on my list. I had poison on one of my lists. I had Love on Top, Levi Jean.

SPEAKER_02

Love on Top was on my list. I took that off.

SPEAKER_05

I did have Bodyguard on here.

SPEAKER_02

Countdown.

SPEAKER_05

I swapped out Bodyguard for all night. I told you, Mike, I was at work stressing. Oh, you know what else is funny about this list? I'm just looking at them. That's how you like it, it's number 10 on every last one of them.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, so you really, really wanted that song on the list.

SPEAKER_05

No, but it could have been easily interchangeable. Because originally I had Smash into You as number 10, and then I crossed that out and put that's how you like it, and it just stayed at the list on number 10. I had dangerously in love at one point, but I felt like people was gonna think that was gonna be on somebody's list, so I took it off.

SPEAKER_02

That never crossed my mind and put maybe maybe because I listened to it. So my mom loves that song, so I listen to it every time she comes. So maybe that's because I don't know.

SPEAKER_05

Some people consider it a Beyonce song, some people consider it a Destiny's Child song, whichever way you want to go, it doesn't matter. Because Dangerously in Love is ri originally on a Survivor album.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

That's why hers is called Dangerously in Love, too. But the vocals stay on the same girl. You ain't fooling nobody.

SPEAKER_02

So I'm gonna tell you something. I don't know how down the line we're gonna do it, but we're gonna do this again. Um, I'm gonna let you pick the artist this time.

SPEAKER_05

I said Janet Jackson, and I'm sticking with it. We can do Janet. Y'all hear that, people?

SPEAKER_02

We can do Janet.

SPEAKER_05

So the next countdown is gonna be about Janet Jackson. Oh, that's another hard one. But I think that's the fun part of it. Like, because like even today with Beyonce, like it made me go listen to all her albums. Like I just like I said, I just put the thing on shuffle. And it made me that's why I said I think that's what made it so hard because she's one of my favorite artists, and I can literally listen to songs, and it literally puts me back in a space and where I was. And if it even if it made me feel like not the greatest in the world, I still remember that song for a reason. So it was kind of hard to dim it down, although Virgo's Groove and Two Hands of Heaven were not moving. Two Hands of Heaven definitely wasn't moving nowhere. She was shaking the table. She was shaking the table, but I don't know. Janet Jackson's going to be the same way. I mean, I think I know what my number one is.

SPEAKER_02

Well, at least with with Beyonce, what when when did we say we were gonna do this? Uh Tuesday? Tuesday when we went out. So, so at least with Janet, you got some time.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, okay. Um, I don't know, so maybe we can do like a weekly top 10. We listen to a lot of music, so we got a lot of artists. Yes. I don't know, so maybe this will be like a cute little segment we can do. But this was this was interesting to say this. No, it's not because I gotta start it back over for Janet. I gotta start it back over. At least for Janet, um, no. No, because Janet got like fucking 10 CDs on my phone. I think the easier thing for me is I love more of the earlier Janet, like up until no, I just made that up. Good luck. God damn it. But once again, we is the rules gonna stay the same. It doesn't mean they're best, it just means our favorite that made us feel a kind of way, or whatever, and it has to be strictly from their albums only.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, oh let's do this.

SPEAKER_05

What's your favorite song Beyonce was featured on? Oh my gosh. Mine's is Love a Woman with Mary J. Blige.

SPEAKER_02

I love that song. I'm thinking now that I'm thinking about Janet.

SPEAKER_05

Um but we'll save Janet for Janet.

SPEAKER_02

Because there's a song that I like that's on that that was part of a movie.

SPEAKER_05

Well, it doesn't really matter.

SPEAKER_02

But it's also it's technically on her album.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, that's what I've says it's on her all for you albums. Actually, track 17, if I'm not mistaken.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. It's gonna be a fun.

SPEAKER_05

So songs like that I would include because technically, yeah, it's on a soundtrack. It got released to the public as a soundtrack, but technically it was on her all for you album, too. The standard version, because if you were gonna say deluxe, it'd be like, uh.

SPEAKER_02

It's gonna be a fun album.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, that should be another rule. It has to be on standard albums only.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, hell.

SPEAKER_05

No deluxe. Well, I just made that up because Dance For You is actually on a deluxe version, but this is a new rule going forward. And Dance For You was on my list. So this is gonna be interesting. It's interesting because we can do we can do the Janets, the Sierra's, Brandy Monica's Chris Brown, Ushers, like it makes the good thing is we I think we started with one of the I think once we get Janet and Beyonce out the way, I think it gets a little easier.

SPEAKER_02

I think for me, Sierra is gonna be one that it like like for you because I was gonna say Sierra next, but I'd rather let's just do Janet because that'll Sierra's gonna be.

SPEAKER_05

Sierra's gonna be tough too.

SPEAKER_02

It's gonna be a hard one for me. I feel like I'm gonna be like you with your revisions.

SPEAKER_05

I feel like, oh my god, why do I torture myself? That's gonna be another hard one.

SPEAKER_02

All right, so we'll do Janet next and then Sierra, and then we'll go into males.

SPEAKER_05

It's gonna be hard.

SPEAKER_02

So we got a hard two weeks. Oh my gosh. So so Sierra will be our last podcast before you go away.

SPEAKER_05

Before we go away, and then when we come out, I'll be on my little vacation. We can transition to male artists. God, I got a headache thinking about it.

SPEAKER_02

Jesus Christ. Stay tuned.

SPEAKER_05

Well, this was, I would say this was fun. It's just so funny. Like in my mind at work, I said, there's no way we're gonna have like any of the same songs. We have three. But it's crazy that our our number one is literally the same song. Yeah. The other, the other one was kind of shuffled, but for your number one and my number one to be the same exact song, it's actually wild. That's Beyonce for you. It's actually wild. And on that note, on that note, it's be not getting copyrighted today because Beyonce don't fuck around. You fuck around, you find out. Um it's only 1 a.m. It's been fun. Till next time when we're back with our drink to that. Janet Jackson.
